(More customer reviews)Printmaster 11 Platinum is the latest version of Printmaster - the all-in-one graphics suite by Broderbund (Mindscape, Learning Company, etc.). I have used Printmaster since version 7 - and been thru the two subsequent upgrades (8 and 10). Each upgrade made some nice improvements to what was (is) an excellent all around graphics suite. Among some of the improvements in version 11 are: the ability to change a greeting card layout from a quarter-fold to a half-fold (and vice-versa), easier interface and more intuitive tools, an improved photo workshop, the ability to make matching items for a party such as tablecloth and napkins, among many others. Printmaster has thousands of beautiful pre-made graphics for greeting cards which print gorgeous, vibrant colors using a nice color printer with good card stock (I use HP greeting card stock, Hallmark, or Canon - all good). This new version is well worth the price with its improvements. If you have version 8 installed, though, download the patch from the Expressit website before installing version 11, or uninstall version 8 first. You won't be disappointed!

(More customer reviews)I bought a new computer with windows XP and decided if i was going to be running the newest Windows I should run the newest Printmaster. I upgraded from Platinum 11 and I'm sending back Platinum 15 and re-installing 11. More than half the images are online now. You get three art discs and have to sort through online garbage to get the rest. It's to get you to sign up for their Million image club for another $$. They took away some features and added nothing. Quality went down. Wait for them to bring it back up before upgrading.

Print Artist 4.0 Version PLATINUM Review

(More customer reviews)I use PrintShop, Print Master and Print Artist. Print Artist has, by far, the best art gallery of any of my graphic programs.
The interfaces are quite similar so it is easy to move back and forth among them, depending on what I want to do. I often copy and paste art work from Print Artist into the other programs.
I also love Print Artist's Pre-Designed Project gallery. It has everything from gift bags and boxes to place cards, place mats and coasters.

I can now do so much with my photos in this program. The art images are out of this world! The best ever is the "Freedom" art collection they have included. No need for a different program to make CD labels as this program has it all! As always Sierra has come out with an easy to use program. When they say "No Experience Necessay" they mean it! Super program, you can't go wrong with this one!

You are limited to a few minor fixes on the photo itself, and enhancing is the same. You can enhance a lot better with Creating Keepsakes. Neither program has much to actually fix a photo. If you are looking for photo enhancing and fixing, move on. If you want great projects for everything from photos to making coloring book pages for kids, this is for you.

It takes a little bit to get to know the in's & outs of the program but it's well worth the time. I have not purchased a store-bought card in I don't know how long. I especially like being able to start with one of their cards & make it my own (especially when I can change just about anything I want to (like the verse, artwork, or the size of the card). I spend many hours playing with the program. I have been able to make some very beautiful cards. I would recommend the program to anyone who is willing to sit down with it and learn it. You can create some really beautiful cards.

You spend a lot of time trying to download from their website and cards that I had with the earlier version were no longer available. I returned my copy fast. The Platinum version is just as bad. Believe me, I tried both versions and am sticking with my old ones. They need to come up with something better in the future or they will loose me as a customer.

Hallmark Card Studio Deluxe 2006 Review

(More customer reviews)If you decide to buy a current greeting card program, there are really only two front-line choices: Art Explosion Greeting Card Factory (currently version 5) or Hallmark Card Studio (currently 2006). There are other programs available specifically for creating cards, but most of them are low quality and outdated, and aren't really worth considering. (A competitive third product featuring American Greetings designs is sadly now long outdated; the designs in the American Greetings program were of similar quality to those in the Hallmark package).
So how do these two products match up? Without a question, if you are looking for quality "canned" cards, the Hallmark program wins. The Hallmark designs are professional, and are equal in quality to cards you would purchase in a store. In contrast, the designs in Art Explosion are adequate but surely NOT up to the quality of a store-bought card. The Hallmark program is also able to simply and correctly print to several different types of card store (although you are stuck with the choices pre-programmed into the software unless you want much frustration). The Art Explosion does a poorer job of correctly and simply printing to a variety of card stock and configurations.
Art Explosion beats the Hallmark program in editing options (more extensive), and in the amount of additional art (clipart, etc.) included with the package.
If you do not plan to use the "canned" cards, then I would recommend Art Explosion. But the average user will likely appreciate the professional, high quality cards in the Hallmark package. Personally, I consider the choice of the Hallmark package over Art Explosion a no brainer.
A note on versions: The publisher comes out with a new version of the Hallmark program every year (2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, etc.) and the same is true for Art Explosion Greeting Card Factory. Having used many of these versions, I find very little reason to recommend upgrading year by year. Disappointingly, the stock cards in the Hallmark program do not seem to have changed appreciably in many years, and the same is true for Art Explosion.

Hallmark Card Studio 2007 Review

(More customer reviews)OK, it is big (4 CDRs). And a full install will require over 2.35 GB. But it loads quickly and offers nice greeting card variety along with pretty sophisticated card customization options on all pages of the card.
As in previous years, it also installs Event Planner. If you don't want to use Event Planner you can stop it from starting with Windows by going to START / ALL PROGRAMS / Startup group and deleting the entry for Event Planner from the STARTUP group but if you don't have a similar program, you might find Event Planner to be useful.
I found setting up this program for my auto-duplexing Ricoh color laser printer easy enough to do, so setting it up for other printers will likely be pretty easy also.
The quality of the printed cards is really astounding, even my normally "picky" wife thinks they look very nice and acceptable for any use. I suppose your results could depend on your printer but if your printer currently prints nice graphics and pictures, then the cards should turn out very nice. I recommend using heavy card stock for a professional looking final product.
Cards that default to printing out in the 1/4 sheet size (four fold) format can easily be printed at 1/2 fold size and the graphics and text remain outstanding.
I never experimented with the "partial install" that would require disk swapping but save HD space, so I cannot if that would be a nuisance or not.
Overall, there is nothing I've found about the program that I don't like.

American Greetings Creatacard Gold 6.0 Review

(More customer reviews)I have not used American Greetings Creatacard 6.0, so like you, I'm reading reviews to see if I should buy it.
I loved Creatacard 3.0, so I went out and bought Creatacard 5.0.
However, I had the shock of my life when the wonderful workable interface of Creatacard 3.0 was modified, to one that was a cross between it and the inferior Printmaster programs.
Come to find out these companies merged at this point in time.
Another shock upon buying the Creatacard Gold 5.0 versus the Creatacard Gold 3.0, was that most of the cards (over 75% that I checked) were duplicates and I mean exact duplicates of the 3.0 version. Buying a new program didn't get me more new cards. Gold 3.0 adverizes 6000+ greeting cards and 14,000 projects and designs.
Gold 5.0 cleverly does not list the number of cards, but has 600,000+ project possibilities. If you want it for that I suppose you are okay.
However, and back to the Gold 6.0 version advertized here. The number of cards is listed as 3900, quite a bit less than the 6000+ than the Gold 3.0 had. Who knows what the 5.0 had.
So I guess what I'm saying is if you are in it for the cards and own a previous American Greeting Cards program, don't bother, until they get their act together again. If you just want crafts etc. You might be okay.
If I am wrong, I would love to know about it. I'm looking for a good card program and I found one once in the 3.0 version, so I'm open to suggestions.

My Labels Review

(More customer reviews)I used a previous version of My Labels, and was quite pleased with it. After changing computers a few times, the old version would no longer work with WinXP, so I "upgraded" to the newer version. Here's my gripe list:
1. When I tried to open my old My Labels files, it kindly offered to convert them to the new format. How convenient! Not at all. The data gets converted (duh), but the label design disappears.
2. Entering data is unbelievably frustrating. If you have fields that are the same, you can copy and paste, but that's it. Ctrl-D is supposed to work, but it doesn't really, making you type the same things over and over. Modern software is supposed to increase productivity, isn't it?
3. This is really a stamp selling program. They actually only want you to buy stamps, the software only being a hook to bring you in.
4. Placement of objects is very clutsy and it's difficult to put things close together.
5. Very limited creative options.
I'll never buy this again.
