(More customer reviews)IF and ONLY if you want to use a 8088-80286 IBM PC with 512-1000K RAM and an old dot-matrix or laserjet printer (many inkjets can emulate one of the printer options,I honestly don't remember
if the program uses Postscript...I don't think so) this desktop publishing program for DOS. You can probably find a computer to run this program for free. Add a laser printer that emulates an HP Laserjet II or a dot-matrix printer and you'll be making newsletters, brochures or whatever. Many templates and clip-art...at 72 dpi, which is a bit jagged for our modern eyes. There were a few 300dpi fonts I could use with my laser printer plus the ability to use fonts built into it. Get a post-it stick. It makes any paper a Post-it, plus it is great for layout work. Instead of using low-res clip-art on-screen, cut it out or copy it from clip-art books, your own drawings or modern collections, manually paste the clip-art, cut-to-size on the "master" page using the post-it stick. It allows you to straighten-out the art and even change your mind.
Take the "master" with clip-art and any extra items (pictures, logos, added text, etc) and photocopy it with a good copier. A paper cutter and scissors are good to have, plus white-out for removing
imperfections on the page you copy. It was what I used for years to do lots of publishing work. Despite the limitations, it can't be beat for legacy desktop publishing if you mix computer and
traditional art/photo methods to do your layout. It has its own GUI. It was ahead of its time..WILL NOT RUN ON WINDOWS Vista or Windows 7 or XP. Best on machines running Dos 3.0 to Windows 3.11

That being said, if you church needs a snazzy newsletter but you just have a 10 year-old computer, no worries! This program runs fast on a 8 mhz XT with 640K RAM. a Hercules or EGA or VGA card are a must.CGA mode is worthless. The review before was accurate but the program is a bit better than you may expect. I used it in 1988 with an XT and a Tandy lp-1000 printer. At the time, the computer cost me $2000.00, the Laser printer $2000.00, the software with a logitech c-7 mouse for $200.00. Now you can basically get it for pocket change. It has a few full 300 dpi fonts but most are 72 dpi/
I did get a sheetfed scanner (800.00) but the computer was not up to using it well...
