Its nearly identical to Sony Screenblast Movie Studio v3 (both came from Sonic Foundry before Sony bought out their media division). It also bears a striking resemblance to Sony Vegas, a high-end professional editor. There's a lot of power built into this software, especially for the price. There's some excellent transitions, and the color-correction is quite good as well. The included clips are only so-so, but some may get a use from them. Rendering time seems a bit slow (usually takes 3x the length of the video to render it; ie: a 1 hour video takes 3 hours to render on an AMD 3200+ with 1 GB of RAM). But the rendering is excellent - no noticeable video noise added at all.
My only concern is the lack of updates from Nova Development. They don't seem concerned with updating the software. When I bought this, for example, Ulead VideoStudio was on v6. Ulead's gone onto issue two more versions, and Nova's still on 1.3. Its still a better product than Ulead, but I'd like to see commitment.
